APTA Historic Marker Program
The Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (APTA) is announcing its new program to recognize and mark historic houses and buildings within Tennessee as a method of recognizing the historic significance of these structures and to promote public awareness of these structures and the role of the structures in the history of this State.
The first nominations must be submitted to the APTA by March 1, 2008. Two nominations from each grand division of the State will be selected for recognition and marking each year commencing in 2008. A permanent marker will be placed on selected properties to recognize the historic significance and importance of selected sites. This program will be statewide and will accept nominations from any County in Tennessee. Any nominations not selected in 2008 will be considered for future recognition and marking.
